Nice car. Lisa deserves it. That makes 17 Hondas and Acuras between Aunt Terri's and my family. How did you get the car under dealer cost? We hope a healthy daughter comes soon. Tim and Terri
Hey there Uncle Tim. I did lots of research and decided to go with the email route. I gathered a list of all local Honda dealers (about 15 of them) and contacted each one by telephone. I asked for the new car sales manager and told him/her that i would be buying a car in the next few days and that i would be contacting a few dealerships for pricing per my specs. I then asked them if they would like to be included and the best way to send them what i was looking for. Almost all gave me an email address and 2 went with a fax number. February ended with 5 straight weekdays, and it is a short month. I was hoping someone would be willing to move a car just to make some sort of sales number. I sent out my request with all the my requests Monday AM and asked all the dealers to call or email me an out the door price (including tax, tags etc)before Wedneday at 5:00. I told them I would buy the car by Thursday afternoon. I kept a spreadsheet showing what each quoted me and they ranged from 26,700 to 30,300. At 4:55 Wednesday I got a phone call from a manager asking me what my best number was, and i told him 26,500 (i know it was a lie but..). He asked me if he could beat that, would i come in and buy the car that night. I told him I would and he sold it to me for 26,300. I literally showed up, the car was waiting for me at the door and all paperwork was typed up. Very easy and i was in and out in about 90 minutes. The only time i stepped into the dealership was to test drive it (also a camry) 2 weeks prior to buying and also the night i bought the car and signed the papers.
