Sunday April 27th

Nothing much to report. Rachel, Lisa and myself are all doing fine. Rachel is 7 weeks old today and is a smiling fool. We have not been able to photograph this but it does exist and is quite beautiful. Lisa goes back to work in 8 days and is dreading it. She will have had an 8 week "vacation" so i am not sure exactly what the problem is... I guess i never wanted to go back to school after summer vacation though either. Here are a few photos from the week. I took the stroller pictures before Rachel and I took a walk around the neighborhood this afternoon.

April 21st

Everything is going fine with us three. Lisa had her 6 week checkup and the doctor says she is coming along fine. Rachel is still having fun playing the "feet in daddy's facial hair" game. These pictures have all been taken the last week at different times. I have just been too busy (lazy) to add them. I will try and be better about that.

Saturday April 13th

Today had a high in the 80's and it was completely beautiful outside. The three of us went for a 45 minute walk around the neighborhood and us adults cooked dinner out on the deck with the grill. Nothing spectacular to report. We did have the camera out and got some photos. Rachel is starting to learn that she has hands and feet and she is having fun with them. She spent 20 minutes today sitting across from me putting her feet on my facial hair and laughing. I guess it felt funny to her. We both had a real good time. Lisa snapped a few pictures of that.

Sleeping Girls

I just took these 4 pictures. The 2 girls fell asleep in the living room and i thought it would make for a cute picture. Rachel had her one month checkup and the doctor says that she is still perfect. He is not concerned with her clogged tear duct and said that he would not be surprised if she still had some issues for a few more weeks. She measured in at 9 pounds 7 ounces and is 22-1/2 inches long. The doctor says that she is extremely tall for a month old and that she falls in the 90th percentile for height. Everyone comments on her (almost freakishly) long fingers. She may be a tall one after all. I know i am biased but she is truly adorable and is getting cuter and cuter everyday. She has beautiful aunts, so it should not be a surprise. Her mom is not so bad either... =)

Sunday April 6th.

It is Sunday and nothing interesting is going on. Here are a few pictures that got taken the last few days. The first picture was taken mid yawn. Rachel's tear duct is still not better and as a result she still wakes up with an extremely cruddy eye. It is bothering me alot more than it is her. Rachel has her one month checkup this week and I am sure they will advise us if it still has not completely healed. Today Rachel is 4 weeks old.

Wednesday April 2th

There is nothing of significance to report. Rachel seems to have a clogged tear duct but it does not seem to be bothering her. She has not been putting her flailing hands into the eye as if it is bothering her. Lisa and I have been massaging the side of her eye and nose and it is getting better each day. When this first happened, her eye was pancaked shut and quite nasty looking. But each morning has been less and less disgusting. It is still not completely better but if it does not fully go away after a few more days, we will take her to the doctor. It is quite amazing the information you can find out about clogged tear ducts on the internet. If this would have been 10 years ago, we would have already been the the emergency room. I don't know if it's a good thing or not that Lisa and I are self diagnosing problems without the conesent of a real doctor but at least we feel informed.
I have been fighting off a cold for a few days (half of my co-workers have taken sick days the last 2 weeks) and i am trying to keep Rachel from getting it. But i so want to be near her and it is tough.
Sleep has been hard to come by for everyone but that is to be expected. It is no where near the fear that people ingrained into our heads the last few months but maybe we are just lucky. (knock on wood). We took a few photos the last few nights but nothing to brag about. (Lisa took the fuzzy ones, maybe she was going for those hazy dreamy looks). I still have a brand new HD Video recorder that i need to play with but there just hasn't been a good moment. Rachel is either sleeping, crying or feeding and none of those are great video moments. Once we start getting them, i will be able to post video clips of her on this blog. So we got that to look forward to.
Rachel is 3 and a half weeks old and is starting to crawl around when she is on her stomach. We haven't given her much "tummy time" until the last few days but she is a wild girl. Obviously she is not crawling around the room, but she does get her legs going and has moved herself a few inches.
I seem to be typing a novel but I wanted to keep everyone up to date...
